iQprint® Wash Support

FAQ

What is iQprint® Wash?

iQprint® Wash is a 3D Printing Resin Detergent – the perfect solution for cleaning your 3D printed models. This powerful detergent is specially formulated to remove all traces of resin from your prints, leaving them looking clean and glossy.

What precautions should I take when handling Wash?

When handling the liquid, it is recommended that you wear gloves and safety goggles to protect your skin and eyes. Avoid contact with your eyes, skin, and clothing.

Is it hazardous?

iQprint® Wash is a synthetic resin detergent, that is non-flammable, environmentally friendly, and safer to handle than isopropyl alcohol. However, as with any chemical product, it is recommended to handle the detergent with care, and to follow the instructions provided on the label.

Can I use the detergent with any wash unit?

iQprint® Wash is compatible with most wash units, but it is always best to check the manufacturer’s instructions before using it. Ensure that the wash unit is clean and free of any other chemicals.

How long should I wash my printed model for?

The recommended washing time for printed models is 3-10 minutes. However, the washing time may vary depending on the type of cleaning unit you’re using. Propeller-driven wash units typically clean faster than ultra-sonic cleaning units. The washing time will also depend on the size and complexity of the model. Ensure that the model is completely submerged during the washing process. For best results, use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the model while it is soaking in the detergent.

I’m getting a tacky finish on my printed models after washing, am I doing something wrong?

If you are experiencing a tacky finish on your printed models, it may be due to washing the model too long. However, the most common cause of a tacky finish on the printed models is not sufficiently rinsing the residual wash material from the model before curing. To ensure you get the best finish on your printed models, after cycling in the wash material, rinse the model thoroughly with water and dry before curing.

How can I tell when I need to replace the detergent in my wash unit?

The effectiveness of iQprint® Wash will decrease over time as it becomes diluted with residual resin, however, it is possible to extend its life by passing it through a filter to remove any resin suspended in the wash material. You will need to replace the solution when you notice it becoming less effective at removing resin from your printed models. You can normally tell when the solution needs to be replaced when it becomes discoloured or cloudy.
